I went into this year with an open mind. I had no idea what I was going to create and was happy to explore. I aimed to discover my artistic voice through experimentation. One of the first sculptures I created was a collection of bananas. It was not narrative-driven like my subsequent artworks and focused more on the art of creating. I purposefully left clues as to what they were made of, ie, the exposed latex and cotton, as I was invested in the importance of the process early on.

Following this, I created an array of mono-prints depicting trash bags; these were created with a very tame idea of environmentalism and served more as an introductory print. In an attempt for a deeper connection to the theme of environment, I created the following Vashing from the Night motifs that depict endangered British moths that have either lost their homes due to climate change as signified by the flames or habitat loss.

Lastly, I circled back to materiality with my Fragmented Grace: Unveiling Loves Flight creation, which depicts a crouching aphrodite. Here, I was experimenting with materials I was somewhat familiar with in an attempt to spark new ways of creating art.
