This year was very experimental. I began by zooming in on the Wabi Sabi principle of imperfection. And looking into ways I could be more intentional about it. I have struggled with the concept of perfectionism, it has plagued many works and reduced the joy I had for them. With Seeds of Imperfection and Residue of Reality, I wanted to return to soft pastels and explore the imperfect narrative aesthetically. The former depicted imperfect and wonky tomatoes in a somewhat derelict location. The latter was inspired by the many magazines I had read as a child that had articles likening women's bodies to fruits and suggesting ways to dress to give the illusion of the more "desirable" hourglass figure. This results in the illustration of a mutilated pear attempting to resemble another fruit, the green apple.

Following this is my first iteration of instruction-based artwork. It was more focused on aesthetics, with the categories consisting of colour palette, technique, art style, etc. I also incorporated haikus. I wanted to infuse myself into the artwork more. As the aesthetics of my artworks can vary drastically, I wanted them to have a noticeable link and found embedding haikus in my daily life a way of achieving that. Furthermore, all of the artworks contained a cat motif, something that brought me joy and helped me convey another extension of my personality.
